We are very happy to announce that Windhoist Australia has been selected to build Bango Windfarm, a huge site with 46 Cypress turbines near Yass in New South Wales.

The Cypress turbine is a new machine from GE Power, and Bango is a landmark project for them – their largest yet in Australia. It’s ideally situated with reliable wind levels as well as close proximity to existing electrical infrastructure.

Once completed, which should be in the Autumn of 2021, the estimated project capacity will be a total of 240 MW. Based on the average consumption of a New South Wales household, this could power as many as 100,000 homes, saving over 600,000 tonnes of greenhouse gas in the process.

Being asked to work on the project has been a real boost for the whole Windhoist team. Jackson Hill, our APAC managing director, has noted “we are excited to be able to contribute to a project involving such leading-edge technology and contribution to the local economy. This is an endorsement of Windhoist’s capability, capacity and competitiveness, to build wind turbines in the Australian market and we are looking forward to getting started”.

Stay tuned for more information as it comes in, and we’ll be sure to provide lots of pictures of the installation of the Cypress turbines at Bango Windfarm!

If you’d be interested in working with Windhoist or want to find out more about what we can offer, don’t hesitate to get in touch.
