E.ON recently awarded Vestas “Best Contractor” title for the 50 MW Camster project close to Wick, Scotland.
Graham Pogson, Construction director in Vestas Celtic, explains that in areas such as northern Scotland, Vestas has to grab every opportunity to construct the wind power plant and be flexible. “Weather conditions here are very demanding and our project had 58 days of weather delay that we needed to mitigate in order to deliver on time”, he says. “To maximize the work, an additional crane was brought on site to mount the blades, and flexible shifts were introduced. The project met E.ON’s accreditation in March this year, going live on time, quality and budget”, he adds.
