Windhoist are currently installing the largest capacity wind turbine ever erected in the UK. This prototype Samsung machine is designed for offshore wind and generates 7MW of power. With blades of 83m in length and a nacelle weighing in excess of 500T this 95m hub height is certainly a giant! The lower and upper tower sections were successfully installed using the CC12600 crawler crane on Friday 04 October 2013 and Saturday 05 October 2013 respectively. Both towers were topped and tailed using both the cc12600 and LR1600 crawler cranes in tandem. The nacelle and blades will be installed in the coming weeks.
