Windhoist complete 38MW Achany Wind Farm

Windhoist have recently completed the erection of 19 x Repower MM82 turbines to a hub height of 59m at Achany Wind Farm, Lairg, Scotland giving a total installed capacity of 38MW. This project proved to be extremely challenging mainly due to the location which is approximately 80 miles north of Inverness. The unusally harsh winter experienced in this part of the world meant that there were snowdrifts of up to 3m on the site and indeed the project was delayed by up to 5 weeks due to inaccessability. This was very hard on machinery as temperatures dropped as low as minus 20 degrees and that machinery could not be reached for maintenance.
